I’m an MTS at Anthropic. Previously, I was a research scientist on Google DeepMind’s Frontier Safety team. I also helped launch ambitious research organizations for scientific progress at Convergent Research, and co-founded Copysmith (acquired), where I led engineering. Before then, I studied Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo.

My primary aim is to increase the surface area of ambitious actions we are willing to take to help AI go well: for example, by assessing the risks posed by highly capable systems and publishing on them, improving societal understanding of model capabilities, and enabling cross-industry discussion of what “sufficient” mitigations entail.

I spend a lot of time thinking about how to make decisions that are fully coherent with my values; to be simultaneously morally courageous, and to move through life alight with joy.
